Timeless Teachings in a Changing World
Every school day each student receives individualized direct instruction in academic areas from a Stone Path Academy special educator, a program teacher and/or an instructional aide. Academic instruction typically applies the following strategies – verbal instruction with support materials, online or verbal strategies with on-line supports, reading and writing (standard textbooks or daily materials such as magazines and newspapers) or experiential learning activities (delivering a news report or building a terrarium).
Group size during instruction ranges from 1:1 to small group (2-3) to large group (6-7). The length of time for a specific learning activity ranges from 5 minutes to 90 minutes and is dependent upon a student’s ability to maintain focus, regulation, and engagement in a learning task or activity. Staffing varies from 3:1 (adults to student) to 1:2 and is determined by factors ranging from environmental, motivational and behavioral variables.
